Professor Ada E. Yonath (Israel), Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry (2009) will open the Plenary Session at the Life Sciences Baltics 2012 forum. Ms Ada E. Yonath was born in 1939, in Jerusalem. In 1962 she graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with the Bachelor's degree in chemistry. She received her Master's degree in biochemistry in 1964 and in 1968 she earned the PhD. in X-Ray crystallography at the Weizmann Institute of Science. Currently Ms Ada E. Yonath is the director of Helen and Milton A. KimmelmanCenter for Biomolecular Structure and Assembly of the Weizmann Institute of Science. She is best known for her work in the field of the structure of the ribosome. Professor Ada E. Yonath is a member of the United States National Academy of Sciences; the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities; the European Academy of Sciences and Art and the European Molecular Biology Organization.

Life Sciences Baltics 2012, to be held in Vilnius, Lithuania on September 12-14, 2012 is to become the biggest international life sciences forum in this rapidly growing part of the EU. Up to 400 attendees are expected - leading experts within the field of biotechnology science and business from all over the world. The forum will shed light on the significant achievements and great potential of the Baltic States in the area of life sciences and will promote the exciting opportunities for scientific and business cooperation development.
