Prof. Shechtman: Find a field that interests you, focus on it and become excellent in that

At Life Sciences Baltics 2016 Dan Shechtman, Israeli winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery of seemingly impossible quasicrystals delivered a speech about technological entrepreneurship as a key to world peace and prosperity.

After his presentation prof. Schechman shared his thoughts about the conference: “I‘m impressed by the number and the quality of attendance in this meeting, so it‘s by far more than I expected. There are so many delegations from so many countries, and so many people who came and listened to their ideas and shared ideas of their own with other people. It‘s a great conference! “

Prof. Shechtman also gave a valuable advice for young scientists or young people aspiring to become scientists: "I only have one advice. Find a field that interests you, focus on it and become excellent in that. Just find one thing and put all of your time and effort to become a true professional in it“
