Research fellow at the Neuroscience Institute and a lecturer at the Biochemistry department of Lithuanian University of Health SciencesDr. Aiste Jekabsone is a research fellow at the Neuroscience Institute and a lecturer at the Biochemistry department of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU, Kaunas, Lithuania). She is a graduate of Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania, where she received a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. Aiste investigated biochemical signaling pathways of myocardial ischemia-induced cell death in her PhD study (LSMU), and mechanisms of stroke and Alzheimer‘s disease as a post doc fellow at the University of Cambridge (UK), Biochemistry department. Her current research focus on the development of more efficient in vitro and ex vivo models for neurodegenerative pathology investigation and drug testing.
